Dental groups and DSOs
Dental marketing for groups with multiple locations
Dental marketing for a group or DSO is local SEO for dentists, done at every practice at once. Patients search "dentist near me", check reviews, insurance and who the dentists are, then book. Each practice needs its own page with its providers and accepted plans, a Google profile that ranks in its neighborhood, and review replies that never confirm someone is a patient. Multistead runs that for every practice from one hub, and we sign a BAA.
From $249 per location per month, billed annually. No per-user fees.
Why dental groups outgrow single-practice marketing
Dental is one of the most active areas for private-equity roll-ups: the Private Equity Stakeholder Project counted 149 PE-backed dental deals in the US in 2025 (PESP). Each acquisition arrives with its own website, its own Google profile and years of search history. A group that keeps them all separate ends up with a dozen logins, mixed branding and pages listing dentists who left. A group that rebuilds them all at once risks losing the search traffic it paid for.
Multistead's answer is mirror mode: on day one each practice's existing site runs unchanged on Multistead, then practices move to your group's templates one at a time. You can check each one's rankings before and after. No migration is risk-free, but there's no big-bang cutover, and our team sets up redirects from the old page addresses as each practice moves. The rest of this page covers what each practice page needs once it's on the platform.
Dental website design: providers and insurance, per location
Dental website design for a group isn't one site with a locator. It's a page per practice that answers the questions patients actually ask:
- Who are the dentists and hygienists here? Provider bios with credentials and photos, per location. When a dentist moves practices, the office manager updates it the same day.
- Do you take my insurance? An insurance-accepted list per practice. Plans differ between offices in the same group, so this can't be one brand-wide list.
- Can I book now? Online booking and new-patient specials, set by headquarters and switched on per practice.
- What do you offer? Services written once by the group. Specialty wording ("orthodontist", "periodontist") is governed by the ADA Code and state boards (ADA News), so locations can't add specialist claims on their own.
- Where and when? Address, hours, parking and photos of the actual office.
Each practice gets its own titles, descriptions, LocalBusiness schema and sitemap, plus local copy written from its real details, not a template with the town name swapped in. See the live dental demo, and read our location pages guide for why city-swap pages fail.
Local SEO for dentists across every practice
Local SEO for dentists comes down to the map. Each practice needs a complete Google Business Profile linking to its own page, steady reviews with replies, and consistent name, address and phone. Multistead connects each practice's Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console on the Local plan, and runs a 7×7 Google Maps rank grid for 5 keywords per practice ("dentist near me", "emergency dentist", "teeth whitening") monthly, or weekly on Complete. Every practice has its own reports and dashboards, and headquarters sees them all side by side. For the directories patients also check, we set up and match each practice's listings during onboarding (including Healthgrades, Yelp, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places and Facebook), and the platform flags any practice whose name, address or phone is missing or doesn't match. See how the rank grid works and our guide to SEO for multiple locations.
HIPAA-safe review replies
This is where dental marketing goes wrong most often. A patient leaves an angry review, and the office replies with details of their treatment to set the record straight. The HHS Office for Civil Rights settled with New Vision Dental for $23,000 over Yelp replies that disclosed patients' information (DLA Piper summary). OCR's own words were plain: providers "cannot disclose [the] protected health information of their patients when responding to negative online reviews. This is a clear NO." (TechTarget)
Review
"Waited 40 minutes and then got charged for an X-ray I didn't need. Not coming back."
Unsafe reply
"Mr. Lopez, your records show you hadn't had X-rays in three years and your crown needed checking."
Safe reply
"We're sorry to hear about this experience. We take wait times and billing questions seriously, and we can't discuss anyone's care online. Please call our office manager at the number on our page so we can look into it."
Multistead's AI drafts replies to Google reviews. Short positive replies that don't confirm a visit can post automatically. Negative, medical or billing reviews always wait for a person at the practice to approve. We don't filter which patients get asked for reviews, which keeps you clear of the FTC's rule against review suppression. More in how to respond to Google reviews.
Security and the BAA
Multistead has HIPAA-minded security: two-factor sign-in, an audit log of every change and encrypted data, hosted on AWS. We sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with healthcare customers. There is no official "HIPAA certification" for software, and compliance is shared: your team still decides what goes on each page and approves sensitive replies.
One more thing to review with counsel: tracking pixels. HHS guidance on pixels on unauthenticated public pages was vacated in AHA v. Becerra in June 2024, but the risk remains on booking and patient-portal pages (Morrison Foerster).
What it costs for an 8-practice group
| Line | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Local plan, 8 practices | 8 × $449 | $3,592 / month |
| Headquarters (group site, location finder, hub, roles) | Flat | $990 / month |
| Monthly total, billed annually | $4,582 / month | |
| One-time setup | Covers onboarding, moving current sites over, listings setup and redirects | Quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites |
If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).
When Multistead is not the right fit
- You run one practice. Pricing starts at 5 locations.
- You want a dental marketing agency to run ads. Multistead is the platform. Your agency can work inside it with no per-user fees.
- You need practice management software. Keep your PMS for charts and scheduling.
Questions
How do dental practices reply to reviews without breaching HIPAA?
Never confirm the reviewer is a patient or mention their treatment, records or bill. Acknowledge the concern in general terms and move the conversation to a phone call. Multistead holds negative and sensitive replies for a person to approve.
Do you sign a BAA?
Yes. We sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with healthcare customers. Compliance is shared, so your team still controls what is published.
Can each practice list its own insurance plans and providers?
Yes. Insurance accepted and provider bios are set per location and edited by each practice, inside the templates the group approves.
We acquire practices often. Do we have to rebuild their websites?
No. Mirror mode brings each acquired practice's site onto Multistead unchanged. You rebrand practices one at a time when you're ready.
How much does dental website design cost per location?
Multistead is $249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually, with no per-user fees. There is a one-time setup fee, quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites.
