Yext alternative

A Yext alternative for brands that need more than accurate listings

Yext is best known for keeping business listings accurate across Google, maps and directories. Accurate listings matter, but they send customers somewhere: a location page. Multistead gives every location that page as a real website, then adds local SEO, Maps rank tracking and review replies on top.

What Yext does well

Yext is a mature platform. Its FAQ lists Listings, Knowledge Graph, Reviews, Social, Pages, Search and Scout (competitive intelligence), as of October 2026. Reviewers often praise how easily franchise owners can update details in one place and push them to many directories. If automatic distribution to a large directory and app network is your main need, Yext is built for it.

Why brands look for a Yext alternative

The reasons we hear, and the ones that come up most in public reviews, are about money and control more than features:

  • No published price. Yext's FAQ says pricing is custom and there is "no flat per-location price". Multi-year terms are the default, and a one-year term "carries a modest uplift". That makes it hard to budget per location or put a number in front of the brand fund. Our Yext pricing breakdown collects the third-party figures.
  • Being locked into a contract. Reviewers on Capterra and G2 describe annual contracts, price increases at renewal and add-on costs. These are individual accounts, not Yext's stated terms.
  • What happens when you stop paying. Some reviewers say listing details changed after they cancelled. Yext's FAQ says "Nothing bad happens to your listings when you cancel" and that control "returns to the publisher." Both can be true: when a sync tool stops, each directory goes back to its own data.
  • Listings don't fix weak location pages. Accurate listings still point to a page. If that page is a thin template with the city name swapped in, rankings and bookings suffer.

Listings are the start, not the finish

Google ranks a location on relevance, distance and prominence. Consistent listings help, but the biggest gains for most brands come from what the listings link to and what customers say:

  • A location page with real local content: address, hours, services, prices, team and photos of that place, not a template with the city name swapped in.
  • Steady, recent reviews with replies at every location, not just the busy ones.
  • Rankings checked street by street, so you know which neighborhoods a location is invisible in.

What Multistead gives every location

A website it can update

From templates headquarters approves. Owners change hours, offers, team and photos without a ticket; bigger changes go through brand approval.

Per-location SEO

Titles, descriptions, LocalBusiness schema and sitemaps for every location, with AI-written local copy and a checklist score.

7×7 Maps rank grid

See where each location shows up on Google Maps across its neighborhood, and track it month by month or week by week.

AI review replies

Drafted for every Google review. Positive ones can post automatically; sensitive ones wait for the owner.

Listings set up and checked

Our team sets up and matches each location's listings during onboarding, and the platform flags any mismatch after that.

Reports for every location

Each location has its own reports and dashboards. HQ sees every location, so you can show where the brand fund goes.

"We already have Yext"

Then here is the honest split. Multistead covers the website, the Google Business Profile and the key directories. During onboarding we set up and match each location's listings on Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp, Facebook and Instagram, Yellow Pages, Foursquare and, for health brands, Healthgrades, and the platform flags mismatches after that. What Multistead does not do is push every change instantly and automatically to a very large directory network. Brands that want that can keep Yext or another listings tool alongside Multistead.

Published per-location pricing, and a clear exit

$249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually (monthly billing costs more), plus $990 a month for headquarters. Unlimited users, no per-user fees. From 5 locations, with 10% off location fees at 25 or more and 20% off at 100–399 (annual plans only), custom pricing at 400+, plus a one-time setup fee, quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites. If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises). For a full cost comparison, see the multi-location software pricing guide.

Switching without a big-bang cutover

Mirror mode runs each location's current website on Multistead unchanged on day one. Locations then move to a new template one at a time, with our team setting up redirects from the old page addresses and helping with the transition, and a rank grid to check each location before and after. No migration is risk-free, but this keeps the risk to one location at a time.

Questions

Is there a long-term contract?

Annual plans are a 12-month commitment at the lower price. Monthly plans cost more, and you can cancel them at any time with 30 days' notice, which is your offboarding period. Multi-year agreements save 10% for 2 years or 20% for 3 years, with your price locked. If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).

Does Multistead manage listings like Yext?

Partly. Our team sets up and matches each location's listings during onboarding on Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp, Facebook and Instagram, Yellow Pages, Foursquare and, for health brands, Healthgrades, and the platform flags mismatches after that. It is not an automatic, real-time push to hundreds of directories, so brands that want that can keep a listings tool alongside.

How does Multistead pricing compare with Yext?

Multistead is $249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually, plus $990 a month for headquarters, with no per-user fees. Yext does not publish prices; third-party sites report listings tiers of $199 to $999 per location per year, with custom quotes for multi-location brands, as of October 2026.

Is Yext worth it for fewer than 50 locations?

It can be, if automatic listings distribution is your main need. If the weak spot is your location websites, a listings tool alone won't fix it, and a hub that runs the sites, SEO and reviews may be the better spend.

What happens to our sites if we leave Multistead?

If you leave, you can take an export of your sites. An offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises.

Will we lose rankings if we move our location pages?

Any migration carries some risk, and redirect quality matters most. Mirror mode keeps each current site live unchanged, locations move one at a time with redirects, and the rank grid shows each location before and after.
