Multistead / Franchisee support desk

Franchisee support

A franchisee support desk where nothing changes without sign-off

Franchisee support for marketing usually lives in an inbox: owners email a request, someone at headquarters loses it, and a change goes live that nobody approved. Multistead replaces that with one desk. Owners ask an AI assistant first. What it can't solve becomes a tracked case, request or change, with response times and approval chains your leadership sets, and a record of who approved what.

SLAs, approvals and the owner AI assistant are on the Complete plan: $649 per location per month, billed annually.

Why franchisee support breaks down

Franchisees say it plainly in surveys. In Constant Contact's 2025 study, "inconsistent communication or guidance from corporate" was a main barrier for 22% of franchisees, and "lack of localized marketing support" for 30% (MediaPost). An older survey of 437 service franchisees found 64% "somewhat disappointed" with franchisor support (Franchising.com).

The marketing team usually knows the cause. Requests arrive by email, text and phone. There's no priority, no clock and no record. The franchisee who shouts loudest gets served first. And when a location's page changes, nobody can say later who asked for it or who said yes. That's both a franchisee buy-in problem and a brand compliance problem.

Cases, requests and changes: three kinds of ticket

TypeWhat it's forExample
CaseSomething is broken or wrong."Our booking button stopped working." Uptime checks on every location's site open an incident automatically when a site goes down.
RequestThe owner needs something from headquarters."Can we get a new photo set for our renovated lobby?"
ChangeSomething on a live location will change and needs sign-off."Switch our site from mirror mode to the new template." "Run a local offer outside the approved list."

Every ticket gets a P1–P4 priority, an SLA clock and escalation if the clock runs out. Alerts go where your team already works: email, Microsoft Teams or Slack.

The AI assistant for owners answers first

Most owner questions have been answered before: how to change holiday hours, where the approved photos live, how to turn on this month's offer. Headquarters writes those answers once in the knowledge base, and the AI assistant reads from it to answer owners at every location. When it can't solve something, it raises the right ticket for the owner. Your team spends its time on the questions that need a person.

How brand approval chains work

Headquarters decides which changes need sign-off and who signs. A typical setup:

  • No approval: hours, team members, photos from the brand library, approved local offers. Owners just do it.
  • Brand manager: new photos of the location's own space, a custom offer, a template switch.
  • Brand manager, then a director or the CEO: going live with a new location, changes to medical, licensing or membership-terms fields, anything with legal exposure.

Chains can run as far up as you want, up to the CEO. Each step is recorded with a name and a timestamp, and approved changes can be scheduled to go live at a set time.

Why change records matter for brand compliance

Franchisors' top marketing challenges include "keeping brand reputation consistent across markets" (47%) and "getting franchisees to follow brand guidelines" (34%), and only 38% have complete visibility into franchisee marketing (Constant Contact/Ascend2, n=503, January 2025, via DMN). A change record is that visibility. It answers the questions that come up in every franchise advisory council meeting and every dispute:

  • Who changed this location's page, and when?
  • Who approved it, and what did they see?
  • How long did the franchisee wait for an answer?
  • Can we put it back the way it was?

Multistead keeps an audit trail of every change, and every location has its own reports and dashboards. That gives you a fair, factual record to show franchisees what headquarters did for their location, and it protects both sides when something goes wrong. Pair it with brand guardrails on the sites themselves, covered in franchise website design.

A franchisee portal, not another login to ignore

People searching "franchisee portal" usually want one place owners go for everything. Multistead isn't a full franchise operations suite: it doesn't handle royalties, FDD management or field audits. It's the portal for the location's marketing: its website, Google profile, reviews, rank grid, Founders pages for new openings, and the support desk that ties them together. There are no per-user fees, so every owner and manager can log in. New locations follow a 16-step onboarding checklist from kickoff to go-live inside the same hub.

What it costs

Every plan includes a support desk for owners. SLAs, approval chains, the owner AI assistant and uptime monitoring come with Complete. Worked from the published prices, billed annually:

60 locationsCalculationMonthly
Local60 × $449 = $26,940, less 10% = $24,246, plus Headquarters $990$25,236
Complete60 × $649 = $38,940, less 10% = $35,046; Headquarters waived at 50+ on Complete$35,046
Difference for SLAs, approvals, AI assistant, weekly grid, uptime, priority support$9,810 ÷ 60about $164 per location

Both totals are recurring; there is also a one-time setup fee, quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites. If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).

When this is not the right fit

  • You need an operations help desk for everything, from royalties to supply orders. Franchise management suites such as FranConnect focus on franchise operations and development; Multistead's desk is built around marketing and website changes. Many brands could use both.
  • Your locations don't need their own websites. The desk is part of the location-site hub, not sold separately.

Questions

How do franchisees request marketing changes, and how do we track SLAs?

Owners ask the AI assistant first. If it can't help, it raises a case, request or change with a P1 to P4 priority. Each ticket runs on an SLA clock with escalation, and alerts go to email, Microsoft Teams or Slack.

Can we require CEO approval for some changes?

Yes. Headquarters decides which changes need sign-off and who signs, with chains that can run up to the CEO. Every approval is recorded with a name and timestamp.

Is there an audit trail?

Yes. Every change to a location is recorded: who raised it, who approved it and when it went live. Changes can carry a rollback plan.

Do franchisees pay per user?

No. Multistead has unlimited users and no per-user fees, so every owner, manager and agency partner can have a login.

Does it replace our franchise management software?

No. It covers marketing and website support for each location. Keep your franchise operations system for royalties, compliance audits and development.
