Multistead / Local SEO software

Local SEO software

Local SEO software for brands with many locations

The best local SEO software depends on how many locations you run. For one to a few locations, a low-cost tool like BrightLocal, Whitespark or Local Falcon tracks rankings and citations well. At 10 or more locations, the hard part shifts from measuring to fixing: who updates each page, who owns each Google Business Profile, and how you see every location at once.

What local SEO software does

A local SEO tool helps a business show up when people nearby search on Google and Google Maps. Most tools cover some mix of these jobs:

  • Rank tracking, including geo-grids that check Maps rankings at many points around a location.
  • Citations and listings: finding and fixing your name, address and phone across directories.
  • Google Business Profile audits, posts and updates.
  • Reviews: monitoring, requests and replies.
  • On-page work: location pages, titles, LocalBusiness schema and sitemaps. Few tools do this part, because it lives on your website.

Be clear on cost: at its entry plan, Multistead costs more per location than BrightLocal, Whitespark or Local Falcon. Those tools measure well and charge little for it. Multistead includes the website the rankings depend on, which they don't.

What single-location tools miss at 10+ locations

They measure the problem but can't fix the page

A rank tracker tells you a location is invisible two miles from its door. The fix is usually on the location page or the Google Business Profile: thin copy, wrong category, missing schema, a profile that links to the brand home page. If the page lives with a web vendor, every fix becomes a ticket. That's why we treat location pages as part of local SEO, not a separate project.

Credit and keyword costs scale with every location

Credit pricing is cheap for one location and adds up fast across many. Using Local Falcon's published pay-as-you-go rate, a 7×7 scan costs about $2.45. For 50 locations and 5 keywords each, that's about $7,350 a year scanned monthly, or about $31,850 a year scanned weekly. Multistead's Local plan includes a monthly 7×7 grid for 5 keywords, and Complete includes weekly scans, inside the per-location price. See how the Google Maps rank tracker works.

No governance layer

At 10+ locations the questions change. Who owns each Google Business Profile, the franchisor or the franchisee? Who may change a page, and who approves it? What happens when a franchisee leaves? Most single-location tools are built for one business or for agencies managing clients, not for headquarters managing owners.

No rollup across locations

You need to see which 8 of 60 locations are slipping, not open 60 reports. Multistead gives each location its own reports and dashboards, and headquarters sees all of them in one place.

Questions to ask any local SEO vendor

  • Does it change the location page, or only report on it?

Where Multistead fits

Multistead is local SEO software that starts with the website. Every location gets its own site from templates headquarters approves, with titles, descriptions, LocalBusiness schema and a sitemap generated for it, AI-written local copy from the location's real details, and a checklist score that shows what each page is missing. A 7×7 Maps grid runs for every location. AI drafts review replies; positive ones can post automatically and sensitive ones wait for the owner. During onboarding our team sets up and matches each location's listings on the key directories, and the platform flags mismatches after that.

Questions

What is the best local SEO software?

For one to a few locations, low-cost tools such as BrightLocal, Whitespark and Local Falcon are strong at rank tracking and citations. For 10 or more locations, the best choice is the one that also fixes location pages and gives headquarters one view of every location, which is where multi-location platforms such as Multistead fit.

What is a geo-grid rank tracker?

It checks your Google Maps ranking at points in a grid around a location, for example 7 by 7, which is 49 points. It shows where a location is visible and where it isn't. It measures visibility, not leads.

How much does local SEO software cost per location?

Point tools run from a few dollars to about $50 per location per month at volume. BrightLocal starts at $31 per month for one location on annual billing. Platforms that include websites cost more; Multistead is $249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually.

Do we still need a listings tool?

Maybe not. Multistead's team sets up and matches each location's listings on the key directories during onboarding, and the platform flags mismatches. Keep a listings tool only if you want instant automatic pushes to a very large directory network.

Can we keep BrightLocal or Local Falcon alongside Multistead?

Yes. Some SEO teams keep their favorite tracker for agency reporting. Users are unlimited in Multistead, so your agency can work inside it too.

BrightLocal, Whitespark, Local Falcon, Synup, Yext, Semrush, Moz, Uberall, Rio SEO and Chatmeter are trademarks of their owners. Multistead is not affiliated with any of them. Facts and prices are from public pages as of October 2026; check each vendor's current features and pricing directly.
