Podium pricing and alternatives

Podium pricing, and when a Podium alternative makes sense

Podium does not publish its prices; its pricing page sends you to sales. Third-party sites report a Core plan at about $399 a month and Pro at about $599 a month, sold on annual contracts, with a custom Signature plan for multi-location businesses. Podium is a messaging and AI lead-response tool first. If you are weighing a Podium alternative for a multi-location brand, the honest overlap with Multistead is reviews, and not much else.

What Podium sells today

As of October 2026, Podium's homepage leads with "The #1 converting AI Employee for local businesses," an AI that handles lead response and booking across the customer journey. Its featured industries are auto dealerships, home services, aesthetics and wellness, and retail. Podium's reviews product sends review invites by text, drafts replies with AI and puts reviews from several sites into one inbox. Podium is also known for business texting and payments.

What it does well: fast replies to new leads, and texting customers for reviews right after a visit. Reviewers often praise the messaging experience.

Podium pricing and cost

Podium's pricing page says plans are "designed to fit your specific business needs, talk to our sales team for details," and that you can "add on AI Employee to any plan." No prices are shown. These are third-party estimates, and the sources disagree on the details:

PlanReported priceWhat's reported to be included
Core$399/month1 location and up to 4 users (Pabau), or up to 2 locations and 1–4 users (SocialPilot)
Pro$599/monthUp to 5 locations, unlimited users, adds AI Employee features
SignatureCustomMulti-location management, custom billing
Extra locations$50/month each, or unpublishedSocialPilot gives $50; Pabau says Podium doesn't publish the rate

Sources, as of October 2026: Pabau (updated September 22, 2026), SocialPilot (a competitor) and CostBench (verified July 8, 2026). Pabau, which also competes with Podium in aesthetics, says both plans are "billed on an annual contract", that reviewers report an early-termination penalty, and that a one-time setup charge is mentioned in reviews but not published.

Worked example: if SocialPilot's $50 extra-location figure holds, 10 locations on Pro would cost about $599 + 5 × $50 = $849 a month, roughly $10,200 a year. Multistead's Local plan for 10 locations is $5,480 a month on annual billing ($449 × 10 plus $990 for headquarters) in recurring costs, plus a one-time setup fee, quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites. For messaging and reviews alone, Podium is much cheaper. Multistead only makes sense if you also need what Podium doesn't do.

Who should stay with Podium

  • Your revenue depends on answering leads by text within minutes, and the AI Employee does that well for you.
  • Your team takes payments by text, or runs the front desk from Podium's inbox.
  • Your location websites already work, and you mainly need more Google reviews.
  • You have a handful of locations and a tight per-location budget.

When a Podium alternative makes sense

Brands usually look past Podium for one of three reasons: they want broader reputation tools, they want fewer contract headaches, or the real problem is the location websites.

  • Broader review and listings platform: Birdeye covers reviews, listings, social, webchat and more. See Birdeye pricing and Birdeye vs Podium.
  • Cheaper review tools with published prices: Reputation lists $80–$150 per location per month, and BrightLocal Grow starts at $49 a month for one location on annual billing (both as of October 2026).
  • Location websites plus local SEO: that's where Multistead fits. Every location gets its own site that owners can update within brand guardrails, per-location SEO, a Maps rank grid, review replies with approval, and reports and dashboards per location. See review management and franchise website design.

Many brands could run both: Podium for texting and lead response, Multistead for the websites and Google side.

Contracts: what to check with any vendor

Complaints about Podium on the BBB and Trustpilot are mostly about billing, auto-renewal and cancellation, not the product. These are individual complaints, not Podium's stated terms, and the same theme shows up across this category. Whoever you choose, ask for the term, auto-renewal, notice window, setup fee and extra-location rate in writing. Multistead's terms: annual plans with a 12-month commitment, or monthly plans that cost more and can be cancelled at any time with 30 days' notice; multi-year agreements save up to 20%; published prices, and if you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).

Questions

How much does Podium cost?

Podium doesn't publish prices. As of October 2026, third-party sites report Core at about $399 a month and Pro at about $599 a month on annual contracts, with a custom Signature plan for multi-location businesses. Extra locations are reported at $50 a month each by one source; others say the rate is unpublished.

Does Podium require a contract?

Third-party sources say Podium plans are sold as 12-month agreements, and some reviewers report early-termination penalties and billing after cancellation. Ask for the term, auto-renewal and notice period in writing.

Is Multistead a replacement for Podium?

Only partly. Both handle Google review replies. Multistead does not offer business texting, payments, review invites by text or an AI lead-response agent. It adds what Podium doesn't: a website for every location, local SEO, a Maps rank grid and a franchisee support desk.

Is Podium or Multistead cheaper?

For messaging and reviews, Podium is cheaper: a reported $599 a month covers up to 5 locations on Pro. Multistead costs $249, $449 or $649 per location per month because it runs each location's website and local SEO.

What are the main Podium competitors?

For reviews and messaging, Birdeye is the most common comparison; Reputation and BrightLocal publish cheaper per-location prices for reviews. For location websites and local SEO, multi-location platforms such as Multistead are the alternative.
