Birdeye vs Podium
Birdeye vs Podium: reviews platform or AI front desk?
The short answer on Birdeye vs Podium: Birdeye is a broad reputation and local-marketing platform (reviews, listings, social, pages) with AI "coworkers"; Podium now leads with an AI Employee that answers leads and books appointments, with reviews, text marketing and payments around it. Pick Birdeye if multi-location reputation is the job, and Podium if speed-to-lead over text is. Neither publishes prices.

What Birdeye does well
Birdeye covers more of the reputation and local stack in one contract. Its pricing page describes three AI coworkers: Jay for marketing (AI search, reviews, listings, social, automation, chatbot, pages, content), Myna for operations (front desk, appointments, reminders, waitlist, insurance verification) and Robin for customer experience (surveys, insights, competitors, ticketing, reporting). It markets "one platform, one contract" and pricing "built around outcomes, not seat counts". Its own comparison page leans on 24x7 support and priority onboarding.
What Podium does well
Podium is built around the conversation with a new customer. Its home page leads with an AI Employee that responds to leads, qualifies them and books appointments 24/7. Its pricing page adds review collection by text, AI text-marketing campaigns and Podium Payments, and says support is included in every plan. If most of your revenue starts with a text or a web chat, that focus is the point.
Birdeye vs Podium pricing
Neither vendor publishes prices. Birdeye's pricing page gates figures behind a form with location bands (1–3, 4–9, 10–39, 40–249, 250–999, 1000+). Podium says plans are "designed to fit your specific business needs" and that AI Employee is an add-on to any plan.
Third-party figures (not confirmed by either vendor):
| Vendor | Reported tiers | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Birdeye | Starter $299/month (1 location); Growth $349 and Dominate $449 per location per month; multi-location discounts are custom | SocialPilot (third-party, a competitor) |
| Podium | Core $399/month; Pro $599/month; Signature custom; billed yearly; extra-location rate not published | Pabau (third-party) |
Note the different shapes: Birdeye's reported tiers are per location, while Podium's are per account with extra locations added on top. For 10 locations, ask both for a total annual figure. Our Birdeye pricing page works through the numbers.
Contracts
Neither vendor states a contract length on its pricing page. Third-party sources report annual terms for both: Pabau says Podium plans are billed yearly, and a reviewer quoted by SocialPilot describes a 12-month Birdeye contract with a short cancellation window. These are third-party reports. Before you sign either, get the term, the auto-renewal rule and the notice window in writing.
Decision table
| Choose Birdeye if… | Choose Podium if… |
|---|---|
| You manage reputation across many locations and want reviews, listings and social together | Speed-to-lead over text and web chat drives your revenue |
| You want surveys, ticketing and reporting in the same platform | You want payments and text marketing in the same inbox |
| You're in healthcare or dental and want insurance verification in the front desk tool | You're in auto, home services, aesthetics or retail, Podium's named verticals |
| You want per-location pricing that scales with locations | You have a few locations and want one account-level plan |
Where Multistead fits
Multistead is a third option when the gap is the location websites and local search, not the inbox. Each location gets a full website from templates headquarters approves, which owners update within brand guardrails, plus per-location SEO and schema, a 7×7 Google Maps rank grid, AI-drafted Google review replies (sensitive ones wait for the owner), Founders pages for new openings, a franchisee support desk, and reports for every location.
Be clear about the overlap: Multistead does not do SMS lead response, text marketing or payments like Podium, and it doesn't run surveys like Birdeye. It is not the cheapest tool on reviews alone: its Local plan, the first tier with review replies, costs $449 per location per month, the same as the top Birdeye tier third parties report, and well above Podium's reported per-account plans once you have a few locations. Its case is scope: one hub instead of a web vendor, an SEO agency, a rank tracker and a reviews tool. Published prices: $249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually. For clinics, we sign a BAA. See Birdeye alternative and Podium alternative.
