Scorpion alternative
A Scorpion alternative for brands that want to run their own location marketing
Scorpion is a managed marketing agency with its own technology: it builds your sites, runs your SEO and ads, and its team does the work. A Scorpion alternative makes sense when you'd rather own the platform and run local marketing in-house, or with an agency of your choice, for a published price per location. If you want someone else to run your paid ads end to end, an agency like Scorpion may still be the better fit.
Multistead: from $249 per location per month, billed annually. Unlimited users.
What Scorpion offers franchises, as of October 2026
Scorpion's franchise page describes a full-service model for service-based brands:
- Franchise websites on Scorpion's own platform, typically launched in "four to 10 weeks".
- SEO, plus digital ads on Google, Local Services Ads and Meta.
- Centralized lead tracking and insights, with AI and automation.
We did not see review management on that page. Scorpion does not publish prices; the page says the investment "depends on your business goals".
What Scorpion does well: it does the work for you, which matters if your marketing team is small. It focuses on service businesses. Ads run on monthly terms. And it is unusually clear in writing about what you keep if you leave, which more vendors should copy.
Scorpion contracts and what you keep on exit
Scorpion's franchise page answers both questions directly (as of October 2026):
- Contract: "Scorpion typically requires a 12-month contract for our marketing technology" and some services, including SEO. Digital ads are generally month to month.
- On exit: "all the assets—domains, content, and imagery—are yours," and Scorpion transfers accounts such as Google Analytics and Local Services Ads. But "you won't own the underlying system": the CMS the sites run on stays with Scorpion.
In practice that means content and accounts travel with you, but the website itself has to be rebuilt or moved onto a new platform. Plan for that time and cost before you sign or leave. Whichever platform you move to, ask who sets up redirects from the old page addresses, because broken URLs are where migrations lose rankings.
What Scorpion costs
Scorpion doesn't publish pricing. Third-party figures exist, but treat them with care. Rebolt, a competing vendor, puts management fees at "$1,500–$10,000+ per month" with ad spend on top, and setup at "$5,000–$50,000". These are a competitor's estimates based on unnamed client reports, not Scorpion's figures. Ask Scorpion for a written quote that separates management fees, ad spend and setup.
Agency or platform: which do you need?
| Managed agency (e.g. Scorpion) | Platform (e.g. Multistead) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | The agency's team | Your team, your franchisees, or the agency you choose, inside your hub |
| Paid ads | Run for you | Not included. Keep an ads agency or run them in-house |
| Location websites | Agency-built on its platform | Built from templates HQ approves; owners edit hours, team, offers and photos within guardrails |
| Price | Quoted per engagement | Published: $249 / $449 / $649 per location / month, billed annually |
| Change requests | Through your account team | A support desk with SLAs and approvals, or owners edit directly |
Many brands end up with both: a platform that owns the websites and local SEO, and an agency that runs paid media. Multistead has unlimited users, so an agency's staff can work inside it at no per-seat cost. Our guide to franchise marketing covers how to split the work.
Questions to ask any marketing vendor before you sign
Whether you're renewing with Scorpion, signing with another agency or choosing a platform, get written answers to these:
- How long is the contract, when does it renew, and what notice do we need to give?
- If we leave, what do we take with us: content, images, the site itself, analytics and ad accounts? In what format?
- Is there a fee to leave, and is it written into the contract now?
- Who owns the Google Business Profiles and ad accounts while we're a client?
- What does each location pay, and what is setup, management and ad spend?
- How do franchisees request a change, and how fast does it go live?
- Can our franchisees update their own hours, team and offers without a ticket?
Multistead's answers: billing is annual. If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises). Prices are published on our pricing section. Franchisees edit their own details within brand guardrails, and anything else goes through the franchisee support desk with SLAs.
Where Multistead fits
- A website for every location from approved templates. See franchise website design.
- Per-location SEO, LocalBusiness schema and sitemaps, with a checklist score.
- A 7×7 Google Maps rank grid for every location, and reports and dashboards per location.
- AI-drafted Google review replies, with sensitive ones held for the owner.
- Founders pages for locations that haven't opened yet.
- Mirror mode: each location's current site runs unchanged on day one, then moves to a new template one at a time. When a location moves, our team sets up redirects from the old page addresses and helps with a smooth transition and onboarding.
Worked cost: 10 and 25 locations
Recurring cost per year on Multistead, billed annually, including the $990/month Headquarters plan. The volume discount applies to per-location fees only.
| Locations | Site ($249) | Local ($449) | Complete ($649) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | $41,760 | $65,760 | $89,760 |
| 25 (10% off) | $79,110 | $133,110 | $187,110 |
Setup is not included: it is a one-time setup fee, quoted on your first call, based on the number of sites. Also excludes ad spend and any agency fees for paid media, which Multistead does not run.
Who should stay with Scorpion
- Brands with no in-house marketing team that want one vendor to do everything.
- Brands where paid ads and Local Services Ads drive most leads and need daily management.
- Brands happy with results, and comfortable with the CMS terms.
Questions
Is there a long-term contract?
Annual plans are a 12-month commitment at the lower price. Monthly plans cost more, and you can cancel them at any time with 30 days' notice, which is your offboarding period. Multi-year agreements save 10% for 2 years or 20% for 3 years, with your price locked. If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).
Is Scorpion an agency or software?
Both, in a sense. Scorpion is a managed marketing provider that builds sites on its own platform and runs SEO and ads for clients. Its team does the work, rather than selling self-serve software.
How long are Scorpion contracts?
As of October 2026, Scorpion's franchise page says it typically requires a 12-month contract for its marketing technology and some services, including SEO. Digital ads are generally on monthly terms.
Do you keep your website if you leave Scorpion?
Scorpion says domains, content and imagery are yours, and it transfers accounts such as Google Analytics. It also says you won't own the underlying system, so the site needs a new platform.
Does Multistead run paid ads like Scorpion?
No. Multistead is a platform for location websites, local SEO, rank grids, review replies and franchisee support. Keep an ads agency, or run ads in-house, alongside it.
What happens if we leave Multistead?
If you leave, you can take an export of your sites (an offboarding fee is agreed up front in your contract, so there are no surprises).
