Yext vs BrightLocal

Yext vs BrightLocal: enterprise listings or a local SEO toolkit?

The short answer on Yext vs BrightLocal: Yext is an enterprise platform for listings, structured data and AI-search visibility, sold on custom, usually multi-year contracts. BrightLocal is a local SEO toolkit for rank tracking, audits, citations and reviews, with published prices and a free trial. BrightLocal costs far less; Yext reaches further. Which one you need depends on whether your problem is data distribution or measurement.

What Yext does well

Yext is built to keep many locations' data accurate across many publishers from one Knowledge Graph, with Pages, Reviews, Social, Search and Scout on top. It suits brands with large location counts, complex data (providers, products, departments) and a need for AI-search visibility. Its FAQ also says that if you cancel, Yext doesn't delete your listings with publishers; you go back to managing them one by one.

What BrightLocal does well

BrightLocal is a measurement and audit toolkit, and it is priced openly. Track covers rank tracking (100 keywords, 4 competitors per location), geo-grid maps for up to 5 keywords, citation monitoring and Google Business Profile audits. Manage adds listing sync and post scheduling; Grow adds review monitoring and requests. It also sells a Managed SEO service at $1,299/month. It is popular with agencies because it is easy to set up for many clients.

Yext vs BrightLocal pricing at 25 locations

BrightLocal publishes prices by location band. Yext doesn't publish prices at all. Its FAQ says "There's no flat per-location price to quote". The Yext figures below are third-party estimates only.

Tool and plan25 locations, per yearSource
BrightLocal Track$1,408 (annual billing, 21–30 location band)BrightLocal, first-party
BrightLocal Manage$2,069BrightLocal, first-party
BrightLocal Grow$2,663BrightLocal, first-party
Yext Emerging / Essential / Complete / Premium$4,975 / $11,225 / $12,475 / $24,975 ($199 / $449 / $499 / $999 per location)Spike, third-party estimate

BrightLocal's band prices are totals for the account, not per location. BrightLocal citations cost extra (from $2 per citation). Third-party Yext figures conflict across sources; Spike says custom pricing applies above 50 locations. See Yext pricing for the full picture.

The gap is large. At 25 locations BrightLocal's top plan costs about $2,700 a year; reported Yext tiers start near $5,000 and go well beyond. You are paying for different things: BrightLocal measures and audits; Yext distributes and manages data.

Contracts and trials

  • Yext: no free tier and no standard free trial. Billing is "typically annual". Yext "leads with multi-year proposals as the default", and a one-year term "carries a modest uplift".
  • BrightLocal: a 14-day trial with no card. You can switch between monthly and annual billing or change plan at any time. Downgrades take effect at once and unused time isn't refunded. If you cancel, your reports stay but stop updating.

Decision table

Choose Yext if…Choose BrightLocal if…
You have many locations and complex data to keep accurate everywhereYou mainly need to measure rankings and audit listings
You want real-time distribution to a large publisher networkYou're an agency or in-house SEO running many locations on a budget
AI-search visibility and structured data are prioritiesYou want published prices, a free trial and no long contract
Procurement is fine with a multi-year termYou'll pay per citation when you need to build listings

Where Multistead fits

Neither tool gives each location a full website its owner can update. Yext has Pages; BrightLocal has none. Multistead starts there: a website for every location from HQ-approved templates, per-location SEO and LocalBusiness schema, a 7×7 Google Maps rank grid, AI-drafted Google review replies, Founders pages for new openings, a franchisee support desk, and reports for each location.

Be clear on the trade-offs. Multistead costs more than BrightLocal: $249, $449 or $649 per location per month, billed annually, because it includes the website and hosting. Its rank grid on the Local plan tracks 5 keywords monthly, so BrightLocal's keyword tracking is deeper. And it is not Yext-style real-time syndication: our team sets up and matches your listings on the key directories during onboarding, and the platform flags mismatches. Brands that want instant pushes to a large network can keep Yext alongside. More on this in local SEO software and our BrightLocal alternative page.

Questions

Is BrightLocal cheaper than Yext?

Yes, by a wide margin on published figures. At 21–30 locations BrightLocal's plans cost $1,408 to $2,663 a year on annual billing. Yext doesn't publish prices; third-party estimates start around $199 per location per year.

Can BrightLocal replace Yext?

For some brands. BrightLocal's Manage plan syncs listings on key sites and Citation Builder creates citations per site. It doesn't offer Yext's real-time network, Knowledge Graph or location pages.

Does Yext have a free trial?

No. As of October 2026, Yext's FAQ says there is no free tier and no standard free trial. BrightLocal offers 14 days of full access with no card.

What happens to listings if we cancel Yext?

Yext's FAQ says it does not cancel or delete your listings with publishers, and your service runs to the end of the paid period. After that you manage each listing with each publisher yourself.

Where does Multistead fit next to Yext or BrightLocal?

Multistead runs the location websites, per-location SEO, a Maps rank grid, review replies and a franchisee desk. Some brands use it alongside BrightLocal for deeper keyword tracking or Yext for broad syndication.
